Hello, this is where you can find out all the latest news to do with Peacock Angell Records and associated artists.
Well hello there
Sid and Ruth were delighted to be involved with a very exciting collaboration this month with the Jasmine Moon Chinese Ensemble from Birmingham at Henrys Cantonese Restaurant in the Jewellery Quarter. This is the first time that the two groups have worked together and the fusion of the traditional chinese melodies and celtic songs and tunes is one that worked really well. Based on the success of this concert we feel sure there will more projects like this in the pipe line.
This concert was put on during the Celebrating Sanctuary World Music Festival thats been happening in Birmingham all this month. There are still some events left for you to enjoy just go to this link Celebrating Sanctuary for full events listings and details.

Our multiple trips to Northern Ireland last month were excellent. Sid and Ruth were working on a community music project with Moving on Music involving four schools from in and around Belfast. Sid did an initial workshop with the students from each school writing and improvising a piece of music. Then Ruth and Rob Anstey from SURGE (trombone) went over with Sid and did another workshop with each school finalising the pieces and supporting the students. Then we were honoured to be asked to go with St Patricks college group to perform at Stormont for the Arts and Culture minister and associates.
All the four schools then came and shared their pieces at The Crescent Arts Centre in Belfast the morning of our concert there with SURGE Big Band. SURGE played to a full audience and we had a fantastic time in Northern Ireland. Many thanks to moving on Music for their support and amazing organising skills! (Getting 17 musicians and all their instruments including an orchestral Marimba on flights and in the right place at the right time is no mean feat!).
Next up is Ruth and Sid’s trip to the Isle of Wight in May (check our gigs page for further information). We are very much looking forward to our mini tour of 3 concerts and maybe we’ll see some of you there!
That’s all for now. Bye!
